Why Tsunamis Occur

A tsunami is a giant wave which is caused by a disturbance out at sea.

A tsunamis is often caused by an earthquake or other movements in the earth’s crust.

The movements push some water upwards while the other water sinks down.

Tsunamis sometimes cause damage in three or four countries at a time.

Tsunamis are really dangerous. In 2004 The Boxing Day Tsunami killed over 230,000 people in 14 countries. [1]
